Statistics: Electronic Payments More Widely Used
The 2010 Federal Reserve Payments Study found that electronic payments are being used more and more in situations where checks or cash may have been used in the past. The study found that electronic payments now make up more than 75% of all noncash payments.

According to that study, it found prepaid cards were responsible for the greatest percentage of growth, increasing 22% from the previous study, to a total of 6 billion transactions in 2009.
